Cuccinelli Compass

Dear Fellow Republican:

If you like voting, this issue is for you!  Of course, you’ll have had to have seen the debate last night…

I share the overwhelming disappointment (is that a gentle way to say it?) at the passage of the ‘government takes over the financial industry bill’ a.k.a. the “bailout bill.”  Where does this leave us, other than one more big step on the path to socialism…?  I will have more to say about this in the coming weeks.

The other side sees criminals as a voting bloc that would be favorable to them, so they bent precedents to register as many criminals as possible before the Monday deadline.  Here in Fairfax, it’s actually worse than just the Governor’s effort to give felons voting rights again…

… and finally, we have some very valuable investment advice for you in this issue!  Ha ha ha…  That will put you all in a much better position to become Cuccinelli Captains!  Read on to find out more!

Vote Early, Vote All Over the Place!

All of the links below are opportunities to vote online for whomever you think won last night’s debate.  Like anything else, the more you practice something, the better you will be at it when the time comes.  So, practice voting below.  Happy clicking!

The Road to Serfdom – Part 3

Why Part 3?  Well, the book itself was part 1, the first round of the ‘bailout’ was part 2, and the final bill was part 3.

How is it that the way to get more votes to pass a bad bill is to make it even worse?  Unbelievable.  Where are we headed?

I saw this headline yesterday in the online version of the Washington Post, it may answer the question of where we are going:

“Fed Moves to Boost Lending With New Fund

Purchase of commercial paper, or short-term debt, puts central bank in unprecedented position of, in effect, funding individual companies.”

The italics are mine… folks, this is unabashed socialism… as opposed to the mere ‘abashed’ socialism inherent in the bailout bill.

For the 70 or so among you that got The Road to Serfdom from us via download, if you haven’t read it yet, skip to the comic in back and note the similarities.  Also note the cheating by the Obama folks to try and win this election… do you think such people will be above similar tactics to try and push their agenda once in office?  If they’d do it now, why wouldn’t they do it later?  If you’d like a copy of Hayek’s (short) and famous tract about economics and freedom called “The Road to Serfdom,” email us at KC4AG@Cuccinelli.com and let us know and we’ll email you a copy you can read on your computer (it’s about 30+ pages long).

My last thought here is that now that the government now dominates the financial services industry, and over half of all of the money in healthcare is either paid by or directed by government, we now have two HUGE sectors of our economy that have been socialized, if not yet nationalized.  If this isn’t a bit more than a mere slippery slope, I don’t know what is…

Remember My Voter Registration Reminder?

Well, in addition to our esteamed (yes, I know I spelled it wrong) Governor granting felons the right to vote at a record pace, here in Fairfax County our Democrat-run registrar’s office went over to the local jail to register everyone there that they could last week, and they also pushed absentee voting among the lawless voters who hadn’t yet been convicted of a felony…

Even the Democrat Sheriff here said that he had never seen anything like it in his 30 years of service… click on the link to read about jailbird registration in Fairfax County.

So, this is what they think they need to do to win?  And these are their voters?  What does that tell you?

Don’t forget the voter registration fraud by the Obama-associated groups in SE Va.  And a headline in the Washington Times today: “Voter-fraud task force raids Nevada office backing Obama.”

This is ominous folks…

Humor Section

(Sometimes you need to be obvious, just to be safe…)

I got some interesting investment advice in my in-box today, and I thought I’d share it with you:

If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Delta Air Lines
stock one year ago you would have $49.00 left.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the
original $1,000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00
left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer
one year ago, drank all of the beer, then turned in the cans for
the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have $214.00 cash.

Based on the above, the best current investment
advice is to drink heavily and recycle.  It's called the 401-Keg.

Oh yeah, Regarding 2009, Will YOU Donate Today?  I Hope So!

If you’re willing to donate to support our pro-Constitution, pro-life, anti-tax, pro-business, smaller government, campaign for Attorney General, please show your support by clicking here to donate today!  We certainly need your help!

Thank you in advance.

Cuccinelli Captains

Like you, we have a monthly budget that we have to meet to run our campaign.  As the campaign goes forward, (unfortunately) the budget needed grows.  I want to ask each of you today to become a “Cuccinelli Captain.”  Our Captains are folks that commit to donating once a month for the duration of the campaign.  Normally, we do this using credit card donations, but you can mail in such a donation if you choose.

We call those that are willing to help us in this way to sustain our campaign our “Cuccinelli Captains.”  Upon you signing up, we will send you a copy of Michael Deaver’s “Why I am a Reagan Conservative.”  Sound appropriate?  It did to us too!

These sustaining donors will (we hope) commit to making a contribution every single month (except February, 2009, as we’ll be in session).  These “Captains” of our campaign will also qualify for special event upgrades during the course of the campaign.  This is a great way for donors to help us best – for the long term.  Are you in for the long haul?  If so, please put your money where your mouth is, as we need your help!

To join this program, please email Mick@Cuccinelli.com today and he will get you set up as a Captain today!

Ready to Get On Board?

The race we’re in right now is about getting delegates for next year’s convention.  Please go to our website today and commit to being a convention delegate to the 2009 convention … and get your family and friends to sign up too!

I’ll see you on the campaign trail!

Sincerely,

Senator Ken Cuccinelli

Virginia 37th District
