A number of bills were considered in the House Militia, Police, and Public Safety subcommittee tonight. As usual, there was a respectable turnout of pro gun and anti gun advocates. It was surprising at the number of Richmond City officials who came to speak in support of anti gun bills. They were unprepared, had no facts and stumbled through their presentations.
The usual band of turn the other cheek people were also there. Again, nothing of value to say.
Philip Van Cleave and Dennis O’Connor were their usual eloquent selves. The NRA representative also was present and spoke. Police officers from Richmond, Henrico, Virginia Beach and other areas came.
Two TV stations were doing interviews. I declined channel 6′s invitation as I am not a Gun Lobby representative, not to mention that I’m a poor speaker. I steered her to The VCDL President.
HB 1234, one of the infamous gunshow bills and HB879, an attempt to supersede preemption, were the only two I really had any interest in, and both died in their tracks.
As always, I have a photo walk of some of the people. There are the Good, The Bad and the ugly. Ironically the prettiest girl there is the same Nun that keeps coming out with the Anti’s. Just to clear up any mistakes, the young blond lady in the picture, is not a Nun as far as I know.Wrong color hair.
VCDL Will have complete coverage.
